Susan Squier ist Brill Professorin für English and Women's Studies an der Penn State University. Des Weiteren ist sie durch Förderung der Einstein Stiftung als visiting fellow von 2016 bis 2019 an der Freien Universität, Berlin um mit dem Projekt Graphic medicine and literary pathographies: The aesthetics and politics of illness narratives in contemporary comics and literature zu kooperieren. Bisherige Publikationen sind Graphic Medicine Manifesto (2014), Poultry Science, Chicken Culture (2011), Liminal Lives: Imagining the Human at the Frontiers of Biomedicine (2004), Communities of the Air: Radio Century, Radio Culture (2003), and Babies in Bottles (1994). Sie ist Mitherausgeberin der Graphic Medicine Buch Serie der Penn State Press.
