Prof. Dr. Gabriele Rippl
Gabriele Rippl, born 1962, has been chair of Literatures in English at the English Department of the University of Bern (Switzerland) since 2005. Her main fields of interest include intermediality (text-image relations, particularly ekphrasis and graphic novels), cultural studies, literary theory, interculturality and post-colonialism, history and anthropology of the media, literary anthropology, the early modern period, English-speaking women authors of the 17th, 19th, and 20th centuries, autobiography, and feminist literary theory.
Gabriele Rippl is an associated member of the Popular Seriality Research Unit, and directed the research group “Seriality and Intermediality in Graphic Novels” that was funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF).
