Lisanna Wiele studied American Studies and Gender Studies at the Georg-August-University Göttingen. In her Master's thesis 'Joan Didion's California in Slouching Towards Bethlehem, The White Album, and Where I was From' she focused on the myth of the American West and the role of narration in the New Journalism.

Starting in April 2015, Lisanna Wiele functions as a research associate in the sub-project 'Serial Politicization' at the University of Siegen and investigates the genre of the American City Mysteries of the 19^th century.
